UMPIRES' T20 FUN-DAY CRICKET MATCH 2025

The Barbados Cricket Umpires did get down to business and enjoyed some leisure time together Whit Monday June 9th 2025 at the Wayne Daniel Pavilion, Brereton, St. Philip.

Team Best AGAIN, won the toss and AGAIN, invited Team Jones to bat. The former YMCA pair, captain Jones and Matthew King opened the innings. King was the first to go, bowled, playing across a full inswinger from Orion Seale without troubling the score. Ian Boyce followed in the same fashion, bowled to Seale for 2 in the same over. Seale, a product of the Foursquare side, Pickwick, coming from the northern end down the slope at Brereton, had the batsmen in some trouble with his big inswingers. Ethan Wood played some delightful shots off Seale; however he fell to Alex Bellamy for 16. Wickets kept tumbling and only top scorer Khismar Catlin 26 showed some resistance with some lusty blows.

Team Jones was eventually bowled out for 90 in 11.1 overs. Orion Seale was the main destroyer with 5 wickets for 25 runs in his 4 overs, backed up by Michael Dowrich 2 wickets for 13 runs and Alex Bellamy 2 wickets for 32 runs.

Dwayne Rudder and Nickoli Graham opened the batting for Team Best. Rudder seemed to be a bit of a hurry moving the score along briskly with some handsome shots. Young Jayden Chase working up some pace from the north did the cardinal sin by pitching the ball after giving Rudder a good short ball which gave him some trouble. Rudder replied with the shot of the day, a square drive off the pacer which went up by “Mudda Shop” like a bullet. He took a liking to the young promising leg spinner Ethan Wood, hitting him for 3 sixes. Pacer Marty Griffith gave Graham the ole inswinger which caught him napping, and he was bowled through the gate for 5 runs that brought the first wicket. Ronald Knight was out stumped off the bowling of Wood and captain Best to the crease with a mission. He made a breezy 33 runs off 23 balls with some lovely drives. With 2 runs needed, Rudder was caught at mid off by captain Jones for 32 runs off 16 balls. Marty Griffith, Ian Drakes and Ethan Wood took a wicket each.

Team Best won by 7 wickets in the 10th over. The man of the match was AGAIN pacer Orion Seale with his fine inswing bowling. Most runs in the match trophy went to captain Best 33 runs and most wickets Seale 5.

Umpires were Darian Holder and James “jimmy” Lewis.

The Bubbas Sports Bar Karaoke competition was held after the award ceremony. They were 7 contestants Virginia, Joe, Khismar, Roger, Wayne, Larando and Taitt. They all performed and sang well but with a late entry, Kareem Taitt won singing Sacrifice by Sir Elton John. Roger Weekes was 2nd and Larando Best was 3rd.
